Over the years I've witnessed a lot of success stories. I've had clients taken off meds, perform physical feats they have only dreamed of and also just live a better overall life. What was their secret?
Of course, they possessed the basic traits of any successful person: the will to change and the discipline to make it happen.
I have also seen people with the best intentions flame out after a short period of time. How/why does this happen? A common problem is taking on too much too soon. When change is necessary we tend to try to make all of them at once. This can lead to
frustration and disappointment.
A strategy to consider:
Start slow. Create the solid habit of working out 1-2 times per week for 4 weeks. At the 5th week add another day. Do this until you're at a point of working out 4 days per week. Two days of weight training and 2 days of metabolic training. As you gain skills, confidence and results you'll find it much easier to stick with your new habits as you work towards making wellness a permanent part of your life!
Keep in mind there will be days you'll have to dig a little deeper than normal to push through some workouts, but those are the ones that give us the most satisfaction and sense of accomplishment when we finish them. In the long run we build up our inner drive by pushing past those mental blocks that are there to take us off track. When that becomes a habit, the sky's the limit!
